[PART 1]
Dear readers, We all are interested a little or more in games. And for Games these days a Game Console is a very desirable thing among all of us. This article is about the history behind the gaming consoles.
Nintendo Entertainment System ( 1985-1990)
It should be hard to find any gamer who hasn’t herd the games “Super Mario Bros” Or “The Legend of Zelda”- That’s what I think, Nintendo entertainment System-‘s these games became most popular after the birth of em; and they also took Nintendo to the top. Nintendo Entertainment System is known as NES. This baby was the markets first ever 8 bit gaming console. Even if it was released in
Sega Master System (1985-1991)
NEC Turbografx 16 (1988-1994)
Turborafx 16 was the first ever 16 Bit Gaming consol. In
Sega Genesis was released in 1988 but started to be a point of the gamers eyes in mid 1989.
All of Sega’s popular games was upgraded with there own genesis version. And Sega Genesis made a major Impact in the market by introducing there Game Sonic the Hedgehog mainly By this game Sega pointed there power of Great Sound Effects and Graphics quality to all the Gamers world wide. This Sonic Game took Sega to such a point that at last Sega made “Sonic” as there official mascot.
In 1994 In front of Nintendo’s new war machine the SNES Saga started to lose the market and in mid 1995 they said goodbye.
NEO GEO (1990-1994)
This was the worlds first 32 Bit Gaming Console. The Graphics quality and sound was in one word a masterpiece. Mainly the death of there console was with something wrong with the marketing polices. Well at first it had a High Prize of 400$ and for giving the permission to make these consoles in Gold Star & Sanyo- they had to pay by losing the market bit by bit..
Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1991-)
After there Game consoles got a huge market Nintendo started to go ahead depending on there consoles. In 1991 they released such a gaming consol that was the father of all Gaming consoles that time. Its features had such as high Quality Sound, 32,000 color option, 3D image enabled mode 7 technology.
It had low gaming collection when released but later it got rid of that problem too.
They released games such as Pilot wings, StarFox etc. It was sold more that 46 Million Units over the world. And it was the top best selling game consol according to year 2001.
Atari Jaguar (1995 – 1996)
Sega 32X/ Sega CD ( 1994 – 1996)
To Save Sega genesis from Nintendo’s Attacks Sega Released 32 X & Sega CD. By Doing this Genesis could render 32 Bit polygon & entered the multimedia Gaming.
Even it had great games like Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racer it got it self by its own Product Saturn.
Virtual Boy (1995-1996)
By this product Nintendo tried to expand its Gaming in various technologies. Actually Virtual Boy was a 32 Bit Portable Virtual Reality Gaming Console. But in many Magazines and media questioned its portability and Gave there word that it was heavy for carrying. That was the Big Bomb that fell on Nintendo’s pearl harbor. Total 25 Million US Dollars of adding and introducing it went to the drains. In 1996 Nintendo again threw a rope to pull it off but they again failed; it went down the deepest.
Sega Saturn ( 1995 1998)
Sony Playstation (1995 – 2001)
So the saga begins. The Sony Playstation AKA PS was released in such a time when all other consoles war fighting to get the market. But for its Wondrous Marketing Polices and Low Prize it because every one’s Favorite. In the List of worlds best selling consoles it has sold more that 79 Million Units. In Playstation’s Most Popular Games there is Grand Turismo, Twisted Metal, WWF. Etc. But as later after the release of Playstation 2 it’s popularity didn’t get much lower at all.
Nintendo 64 ( 1997 -)
After the world wide popularity of Nintendo’s “SNES” in 1997 Nintendo 64 came in the market. Even if Nintendo 64 was a good power house it never could take the number one spot of the Playstation. According to many people the problem of them was they used cartages for games while others ware using CD’s. But some games like Zelda 64, Pokimon, Mario 64, Golden eye— saved it from being super flop.
Sega Dreamcast ( 1998 – 2001)
Sony Playstation 2 ( 2000- Running)
One of The most greatest gaming Consoles of all time the Play station 2 was released in march 4th of the year 2000. and after only 1 week it had more than 1 Million units!! Which made a Record. After this many had claimed that the Evolution of PC Gaming Was Over….But that really didn’t happen…did it??? Today PC Gaming is like taking more that 60 % of the entire GAMING Industry. The PS 2 Was Completely backward Compatible, So you could run all PS 1 Games on the PS 2. in other features it had DVD support, a 128 Bit 300 Mhz Processor, a 150 Mhz Graphics Processor ( Which is almost lower that a 64 Mb ATI Radeon 7000 Series AGP cards) USD and PCMCIA support etc
Indrema ( 2002--)
Well it was to be completely different from any other console. It was based on Linux Operating System And another thing was it was to be developed as open source…More information on this console couldn’t be dug out about this console…
Nintendo Game Cube ( 2001-)
Nintendo Released this Mega Gaming console to take over the market…The Game Cube Had 150 MHz IBM Gekko Processor, a Mini DVD Drive, and it could handle 6 – 12 Million Polygon’s in a second…../But it Didn’t become as the hoped it will…cause of The Playstation 2 ’s Great Game Collection no console yet got it…..
Microsoft X-Box ( 2002)
THE ONE”S THAT ARE CHARGED FOR VIOLENCE
Reader,
Facts are Heavy Violence mixed games seems to have a effect in some teenage minds, some time a change in there accent and behavior has been found- this is what every one near and far are talking about. Even in some
1. Mortal Kombat ( 1992)
In Babalities after the fight is over both opponents turn into Baby’s & in Friendship Both start to shake each others hand and become friends!!
DOOM (1994)
The most known first person shooter game that started a whole new erra of FPS. We might not find a gamer who never herd about it. From the grate path of Doom we got the next gen- FPS games like Quake 2, Delta Force, MOH, COD. At last even doom had to be the prey of Gaming Violence, When a young teenage boy named Evan from
Duke Nukem 3D ( 1996)
A 24 year old boy named Mateus Da Costa Meira had the most important role behind The banning of these games.
He was a medical Student & he killed 3 people by shooting at rage and Hurt other 8. After he was caught he told the police that he did this all by copying “ Duke Nukem” ! Now who to blame! Call him Psycho, but I say all that medical stuff made him go berserk!!
And at last for the
Half Life (1998)
But tragedy took place when in 25th January of the year 2000 the board of sensors of
But only after 1 week of the declaration they removed the ban of Half Life saying that being in the market for more that 1 year it has spread all over the country and trying to ban it now is just no use!! (Go on Half Life!!!)
Grand Theft Auto
In the Gaming world GTA has its own reputation. There has been many accusing of this game being the reason of encouraging people to attempt Murder, just Like that in February 2007, a jury in New Mexico finds Cody Posey, 16, guilty of two murder and one voluntary manslaughter for killing his parents and stepsister. He was convicted of first-degree murder for the death of his thirteen-year old sister, Marilea and second-degree murder for killing his stepmother, Tryone. He received the lesser count of voluntary manslaughter for killing his father Paul who Cody claimed abused him physically and emotionally from birth until the time of the shooting.
On September 25, the victims’ relatives filed a wrongful death suit seeking an unspecified amount of damages. They named Posey, Sony Entertainment, Take-Two Interactive Software, and Rockstar Games as defendants. They claim that Grand Theft Auto is a "murder-simulation device" that caused Posey to kill his family.
Just like that many Games had to face hard times. No matter how much violence it has now a days Action Games have entered such a era that they have their own category, which they cant be forced back. To say the least most games that have a lot of Violence have been a great hit.
After getting reported time and time again for a lot of violence Mortal Kombat ‘s publishers midway decided to use sweat instead of blood, they said that way the violence ratting of the game will get a little bit lower, sweat started to fall instead of blood, and midway released a version of Mortal Kombat with sweat, and what happened was; the fans of Mortal Kombat used the ultra fatality move and threw the game on the garbage disposal bin!
A graphics card is the most important thing in gaming. So weather you are a hardcore gamer or a normal player or just play games to entertain/fun the major factor that might be keeping you from gaming is your graphics card. There was a time when games ran excellent on a 8 MB AGP card. And 16 MB AGP card was the best. Remember those Voodoo cards?? Now days even some games don’t like to run on a 128 MB card. And graphics cards have changed till the past 10 years. Now there is PCI express. While AGP ran on 8X speed PCI dose it in 16X. Now adays PCI Express cards have dual GPU’s and Mother Boards use dual PCI express for the excellent performance…The technology from ATI is cross fire and from N Vidia is SLI( Scable Link Interface). Mother boards give true 16X bandwidth speed for each graphics card. PCI Express graphics cards have reached 1 GB. Already there are 512MB graphics cards available in the local market.
Now adays the graphics card manufacturers have slowed AGP cards marketing and they have the PCI-E's on Go. So usully there is little stock of AGP cards in the local market rather than PCI-E. But every one who is upgrading there graphics card always thinks which one can I get in the best prize. Well we cant suggest you about the prizing but we have brought up some ways that will be the most helpful for you in buying a graphics card and upgrading your gaming Life. So before you buy a graphics card do remember to follow the suggestions given below.
THE THINGS YOU NEED THE KEEP IN MIND:
1. Memory: When you are buying a graphics card the first thing that comes in mind is the memory. These days if you want to play perfect then it wont do under 256 MB. But even if you have a lower budget then you shouldn’t go under 128 MB. When you are playing Racing games the thing that more important than any thing is the Total RAM of your system and your graphics card. Because the games that change sequence very fast eat a lot of memory of both RAM & GPU. So keep your Eye on that factor.
2. Memory Clock: When you are set on a card, be sure to know the memory clock speed of your card. This is the most important thing. If you have a card with a lot of memory which possess a low memory Clock speed can’t run all games very well.. And the case will be games running slow, un predictable and sometimes might not run at all! So give the memory clock more importance that the memory itself. Try to get as much as clock speed as you can get.
3. Core Clock: You should even have a fast core clock. As much as the memory Click is important the Core Clock is as much as important. So It should be a card with a powerful core clock.
4. Memory Interface (Bit): The memory Inter face is another thing it depends on your card and its model it can be 128 Bit, 256 Bit and even 512 Bit. For cards that have 128 MB or lower model 256 MB‘s have 128 Bit. Like the GeForce 6600GT is 256 MB and is 256 Bit has a 1 GHz core clock and a 500 MHz memory clock. That’s a good card indeed! And some cards like X800 or GeForce 6800GT or upper have 256 Bit and higher cards like 512 MB or 1GB has 512 Bit memory interface. But that’s not such a big matter in hand.
5. Version/ Model: Always try to buy a card which is in a upgraded model. Like for instance for ATI when you are buying a 256 MB X550 PCI Express Card (6,400 TK) it’s better to buy a 128 MB X600 or the X700 Series, even if its gets less MB. Why? Because games today don’t only need the memory clock and memory they need to support your card. Like for instance Flat Out 2 supports above ATI Radeon 9600 Pro/XT and GeForce 5,6,7 series cards. Its wont run on any earlier models such ATI 9250, 9550 etc. So most of games are build supporting most of the latest cards so remember to try to buy the newest model you can.
6. Features: These days games don’t just require a Big memory it also requires some features in your graphics card. Features such as Hardware TNL. Transform and lighting, with out this feature you can play GTA SanAndreas, True Crime plus some games. Also you need some more features smart shader, Pixel shader, vertex shader color separations etc. So be sure to check the features of your card. If it has it all that is! But don’t get worried!!! Nowadays new models cards have them all cards like GeForce FX series, ATI plus 9250 series etc. And if you are buying a PCI Express card then no matter all the new PCI express have them all in different models and versions. But always try to get the higher version of all the features.
7. Heat: All Graphics cards come with a heat sink, but many of em comes with a Fan attached with the heat sink. The fan is very neat & effective when it comes to cool down you card while you are playing seriously! But some older and some new Graphics card models have such fans that are too Big and take away one of your other normal PCI slots. And many of them make a disturbing sound that might detach you from having fun. Also there are some problems such if the Fan stops working then your card might be overheated. And some older versions with cooling fans have problems such as that specially AGP’s. So try to get a cool and quite technology card that uses a good heat sink and if you are going to buy a card with Fan then be sure to buy a card which is made by a good manufacturer such as SPARKLE, GIGABYTE, ASUS, SAPPHIRE, and MSI etc.
8. Real Memory: Some times as much memory is written in the box might not be in the card so be sure to open the card check the chips if the memory is written on any chips and try to check it before bye. But that’s really not a big matter why dose it happen is most of the cards come without the box and that saves a lot of space for the distributors. The Boxes come in other shipment and some times they order boxes in one writing like a hundred boxes for ATI Radeon 9600 256 MB might come in Boxes which say 128 MB. Later it gets hidden by a sticker which says the original memory.

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX
The world’s most powerful & First DirectX 10 Graphics Card.
by Md. Sadat Hussein
The next generation game consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStaton 3 are out now, Nintendo Wii is coming soon. Now what about Pc gaming? Well, With Windows Vista & DirectX 10, Pc gaming is going to be even better than game consoles! And Nvidia has just released their first DirectX 10 graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX. According to the results of lots of benchmarks, currently this card is the world’s most powerful graphics card beating Nvidia GeForce 7950 GX 2 and Ati Radeon X1950XTX! As this is a DirectX 10 Graphics card, first we look at what is DirectX 10.
DirectX 10 DirectX 10 is an evolutionary step over the current DirectX 9C. DirectX 10
introduces new unified shader architecture with Shader Model 4.0. One of the new things on DirectX 10 is geometry processing. Until now the system CPU was in charge of this task. On DirectX 10 geometry processing can now be done by the graphics processor. Geometry processing smoothes curved surfaces and you can see a better quality on character animation, facial expressions and hair. DirectX 10 provides more resources to the GPU, improving 3D performance. In DirectX 9C, Pixel and Vertex shaders were separated. DirectX 10 cards have unified Pixel and Vertex shaders’ processors meaning that any shader processor can handle the workload of Pixel and Vertex processing. This is will improve game performance dramatically. The key differences in GPU resources between DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 you can see on the table below.
Resources | DirectX 9 | DirectX 10 |
Temporary Registers | 32 | 4,096 |
Constant Registers | 256 | 16 x 4,096 |
Textures | 16 | 128 |
Render Targets | 4 | 8 |
Maximum Texture Size | 4,048 x 4,048 | 8,096 x 8,096 |
There are also several new features on DirectX 10, but in summary the goal of this new programming model is to reduce the system CPU role on 3D graphics performance – i.e. it tries to avoid the use of the system CPU as much as possible.
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX Staying close to DX10 specifications, GeForce 8800 GTX fully comply with the DX10 standard with Shader Model 4.0, various data storage and transmitting specifications, geometry shaders and stream out.
Nvidia said: "The GeForce 8800 design team realized that extreme amounts of
hardware-based shading horsepower would be necessary for high-end DirectX 10 3D games. While DirectX 10 specifies a unified instruction set, it does not demand a unified GPU shader design, but Nvidia GeForce 8800 engineers believed a unified GPU shader architecture made most sense to allow effective DirectX 10 shader program load-balancing, efficient GPU power utilization and significantly improved GPU architectural efficiency."
Architecture of Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX Instead of the graphics chip having separated shader engines accordingly to the task to be performed – for instance, separated pixel shader and vertex shader units – the GPU has now just one big engine that can be programmed on the fly accordingly to the task to be done: pixel shader, vertex shader, geometry and physics. This new architecture also makes it easier to add new shader types in the future.
The reason behind unified architecture is that in some situations the GPU was using all shader engines from one type(pixel shader engines, for example) and even queuing tasks for these engines while engines from another type.
So Shader 4.0 allows the use of any shader engine by any shader process – pixel, vertex, geometry and physics.
Features of Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX
GeForce 8800 GTX has 128 shader engines (i.e. streaming processors; 16 streaming processors x 8 units) and 384-bit memory interface (64 bits x 6).
Support for thousand of independent simultaneous threads, technology nVidia calls GigaThread.
16x anti-aliasing and 128-bit floating point precision HDR (
Nvidia is calling their physics simulation technology as “Quantum Effects”. Physics simulation improves the reality of effects like smoke, fire and explosions.
Hardware-based features to enhance 2D high definition video quality. Nvidia calls these enhancements as “PureVideo HD”. Two new features are provided on GeForce 8 series, HD noise reduction and HD edge enhancement. GeForce 8 series also support HDCP decryption, in order to play HD-DVD and Blue-ray that have this technology on PCs. Of course GeForce 8 supports all other enhancements provided on previous nVidia chips, like de-interlacing, high-quality scaling, inverse telecine and bad edit correction.
