AGP's Last Stand: HD3850XT

AGP gets one last boost up, introducing the New HD3850XT AGP 8X

Featuring DX 10.1 Support; this is the world’s most powerful AGP card.

PowerColor is the first partner to list HD 3800 card for AGP. The AGP version of HD 3850 PCS will work at lower clocks when compared to the PCI-Express version. HD3850 PCS works at 720 MHz for the core and 900 MHz for memory (1800 MHz effective). The AGP version works at more modest 668 MHz for the core and 828 MHz (1656 MHz effective) for 512MB of GDDR3 memory. Unlike the PCI-Express version, this card lacks Crossfire connectors, and has a heatsink that covers memory modules.

After the arrival of PCI-Express now a days the market is mainly dominated by CrossFire & SLI. But still a large part of the market is owned by AGP cards, Its certain that the AGP is dying and has few breaths left, still as the top bandwidth speeds of the 8x AGP slot haven’t been reached yet users that use a 32bit PC system or simply that aren’t too keen of upgrading their old machine would love to get every bit of juice out of it.

Its now certain that in the last stand of the AGP would be fought using HD3850XT; which has been proven to be more powerful than the GeForce 8800GT itself! This would be the most powerful AGP card in the world. Its currently being parallel imported in Europe, South Pacific and is available from as low as 200Euro or $300 NZ
